Non-Playable Character

Non Playable Character is a short game made for GMTK Jam 2023! The theme was Roles Reversed, so why not swap places with someone you know very well?

You play as an NPC. Even though you do not have a mind of your own, and can't even leave your house, you still have to pay rent. And there is not much time left. Fortunately you still have some posessions in your house! Your goal is to get 1000 coins to be able to pay rent until the timer ends. To do that you have to interact with different heroes.

Heroes come to your house once in a while. They are all different level, but there is a higher chance that a high level hero will come if you have high level items. You can interact with heroes by buying from them, selling to them, or giving them quests.

There is a bonus chance that the hero will accept a quest rather than a sell, because they will also gain XP there. But there is also a chance that the quest fails!

And while you are doing all of that rats can spawn and try to eat your items! I guess it is what it is.

LMB - Use state ability.

1, 2, 3 - Change state.

RMB - Throw object when state 3.

These might not be very clear, but there is a tutorial level in the game in which everything is explained in more detail.
