Hunting Season - The Battlefield Update!

After some months of work The Battlefield Update is finally here! It is a free update for the demo of Hunting Season! You can go and play it right now or stay here and learn about what's new this update brings to the game!

Before we get to the new content let's see what changed about the old stuff in Hunting Season:

Some optimisation improvements.

Snake's tooth --> now affects bosses

Health Insurance --> now revives you with 30% hp (was 10%)

Golden tooth now has a higher chance to spawn in shop.

Of course there are more items that have been change, but covering all of them would take some time, that's for sure!

Changes to enemies:

Enemies now drop a little bit less money.

Enemies now can drop cheese on death.

Enemies now will stop attacking if there is a wall between them and the player, instead they will walk around it.

Enemies can now mutate, which means they will apply additional status effects when damaging the player. Mutated enemies also have more hp and drop more money.

As well as the changes to the old items this update brings 21 unique items into the game! I will show you some of them (only the pictures of the items) and everything else you will have to see yourself!

So, now we can get to other additions to the game!

New Stage!

Of course, the main attraction of the update is the new stage : The Battlefield!

This stage features a completely new environment, 4 new enemies and a new boss!

Let's see the enemies first:

Pyramid Turret

This robot doesn't try to shoot the player or something. It just turns on it's laser and spins around like a mad man. Maybe it doesn't know who or where you are, but that doesn't mean that you are safe... ha ha.. It also has two different variations: A short one and a tall one.

C0R3 - V1

Even though this enemy looks like a robot, it's not actually fully robotic. It's more of a cyborg. Their equipment is quite old so they are not very good at traversing. Although when shooting they will auto-aim to the player's location.

LR-Unit

This is an example of greed taking over one's life. These cyborgs were humans before but they chose to side with the monsters because of their technology and power. Now they barely resemble a human being, as they have been turned into killing machines.

Husk

These monster are kinda similar to LR-Units. They have also been humans before. But they didn't change sides or something. They were caught by the monsters and tortured so much that it is hard to call them humans now. All that left is an empty vessel used as a deadly weapon.

These are all the new enemise you will encounter on the second stage. Of course I haven't shown anything about the boss, but you will have to see yourself by playing the demo!

Now to some level generation additions!

New room type: Shrines

These rooms contain shrines left by gods from the ancient past. Let's see what they do:

Healing Shrine

I mean, I think it is pretty obvious. This shrine gives you a hp regen buff that lasts for a minute and cleanses all debuffs. Pretty useful if you don't have much hp left.

Shrine Of Sacrifice

This shrine rewards you for your bravery. By using it you will get a good chunk of money. But not for nothing. The shrine of sacrifice gives you one random debuff for a certain amount of time.

Shrine Of Judgement

This shrine is a test of your luck. There are 2 outcomes with each having a 50% chance of happening. Those 2 outcomes are:

- You current health equals current money.

- Your current money equals current health.

New room type: Teleporter Rooms

These rooms contain an ancient teleporting device used by the monsters to traverse great distances. Since then they have created more advanced versions of these teleporters, but at least you can use the old ones. There is always on teleporter in the shop room and the other spawn randomly in the level.

New Weapons!

Yes, new weapons. This wouldn't be a good update without some new guns made for killing monsters.

Mechanic's Crossbow

As the name suggests, this is a crossbow of an old mechanic who has sadly passed away. But his hopes and dreams of better world without war were put into this weapon. This is a single shot weapon which deals a lot of damage on hit.

Old Minigun

It may not be in the best condition but it can kill monsters efficiently so who cares. This weapon has a big magazine (50 bullets) and a very fast firing speed. You can two-hand this bad boy to eliminate all of the enemies in your way. Or to cosplay jetpack joyride...

Grenade Launcher

I mean, there isn't much to say about this one. Big gun shoot big grenade, it explode, everyone die. For real though, this weapon has two grenades ready to fire before reloading and can do good damage to crowds of enemies.

This is all I had to share about the update. Of course there are a lot of minor changes and a lot of bug fixes, but it would take an hour to read through them. You can download the game by clicking the button below and check all of that stuff yourself! I wish you luck on your journey underground!
